Spring 2004 was the year when The Marys sprung out of their garage in Rex, GA with a vision to rock the music scene by combining old-fashioned sound with the modern indie-rock attitude. Jamming to the tunes of AC/DC, The Kinks, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and the likes, the band wrote songs that also had a little hint of Jet, Velvet Revolver, The Strokes, and others.
The band came together in a form of an experiment. Bernard has played in many different bands since he was 13, but none of them lasted. So, he decided to test if music flows as well in the veins of his brother Brian, and his cousin Mike. He tossed them a guitar and a bass, while another cousin played the drums. Their first song: "Sweet Child O' Mine" by GNR. The rest was history! The Marys started playing several gigs at local clubs, and private parties, until the band was faced by a challenge to find a more suitable and more dynamic drummer. After months of relentless searching, Rob came to the rescue in a form of a YouTube video. He's been hunting for a band as well, so he decided to post a clip of himself banging on those drums as if he came out of his momma with drumsticks in his hands! Through the years, The Marys gigged at local venues including The Masquerade, 10 High, The Loft, Vinyl, Smith's Olde Bar, and several fund-raising events in Georgia State University, and local community centers. One of the band's proud moments was winning the 1st and 2nd rounds of the 2006 Emergenza Music Festival, which is held annually at various venues across 150 cities in America and Europe.
Today, The Marys is even stronger and still unstoppable! Hitting the road is also one of their major plans, so wherever you are, get ready! With their catchy tunes, and feet-stomping groove, The Marys will rock your socks off!
