This album is the second compilation of power pop cuts by Dana Bonn and Carl Cafarelli of Westcott Radio of Syracuse NY. The cd follows the guys concept of just playing good rock 'n' roll music without any cute marketing, advertising or programme controller interference. So this is Shangri La then, where it's is all just about the music, just good gutsy rock and pop.
Yep, that is exactly what you get, up and at 'em power pop gems, one after the other. Songs from Screen Test, John Wickes & The Records, The Cowsills, Richard Barone, The Bar, The Fire Apes, Astropuppees, The Condors, The Charms, Tim Anthony, Eytan Mirsky, The Shamus Twins, Cloud Eleven, Jim Basnight, Raquel's Boys, Pop Is Art, Beauty Scene Outlaws, The Blondes, The Ringles, Lo & The Magentics, The Spongetones, Mr Encrypto, The Lemon Clocks, The Grip Weeds and The Dipsomaniacs. They all keep the energy levels right up high and the whole album is about making you feel good.
It would be wrong to single out any one song from a band on here, as the album has been put together as a cohesive experience and it is one that works perfectly. None of the songs are really deep, they are all exhilerating and uplifting and is what is missing from a lot of radio programming these days. It makes you feel good and in that it is doing exactly the right job, Buy it!
