NOTE:WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED BY THE RECENT PASSING OF OUR FRIEND AND FORMER HENDRIX BAND OF GYPSYS DRUMMER, BUDDY MILES.. R I P.. We are CURRENTLY LOOKING TO CONNECT WITH A HEAVYWEIGHT TRIBUTE BAND MANAGER/AGENT/PROMOTER.. BIGGER and BETTER things are currently in the works.. Marvin's main objective with this band is to recreate what an actual LIVE Jimi Hendrix experience was like, IF you were fortunate enough to have been there.. Far too many of you are genuine, hardcore Hendrix fans who were not even alive, much less old enough to experience the Jimi PHENOMENON in the era when he RULED the stage.. His music is and forever will be TIMELESS.. Steering clear of the studio versions of the hits,we are here to get you as close as you'll probably ever get to the raw, LIVE Hendrix experience, by doing the songs the way he did 'em live at his shows!!
There are a few other good Hendrix impersonators out there,and they either have the sound or the look, but not BOTH.. Marvin Fields happens to be of the exact same Cherokee Indian/African American genetic mix as Jimi Hendrix, which has everything to do with his striking natural physical resemblance to THE MAN himself.. Marvin has idolized Hendrix since his humble beginnings in his small hometown of DANVILLE,ILLINOIS, and has developed Jimi's sound and technique pretty much down to a science.. 2 of Marvin's 6 Fender Stratocasters are 69 era correct reissues which nail the tone pretty well, and he plays thru 2 full 100 watt MARSHALL all tube stacks(a JCM 2000 Dual Super Lead, and a JCM 900 Dual Reverb)for the Hendrix sound and the illusion.. this provides lots of tone, as well as V O L U M E, which Hendrix was well remembered for by those who were actually there at the live shows.. Nothing looks or sounds better behind you,than a wall of cranked up MARSHALLS.. But if you REALLY crank THESE babies, you better be OUTSIDE or in a LARGE VENUE, cause NOTHING will completely CLEAR OUT a smaller club AND assure you're ass won't be playin there again anytime soon, faster than a wall of CRANKED UP 100 watt MARSHALLS!!!
The bass is handled by former fellow POWER SURGE bandmate Anthony "TONY" Bradt, who replaces previous bassist Jimi Martinez(now with former AC/DC frontman Dave Evans).. Tony also plays a Fender Jazz bass just as both Noel Redding and Billy Cox used 99% of the time.. On drums is Dennis "the menace" Taylor, who has a drumming style that is a good mixture of both Mitch Mitchell and Buddy Miles who we like to refer to as"Dennis The Menace", because he truly is menacing when he gets behind his drum kit.. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? Not necessarily stoned.. but B E A U T I F U L is how you'll feel after checking out Marvin Field and THE AXIS.. an EXCELLENT tribute to the immortal JAMES MARSHALL "JIMI" HENDRIX..
